SUMMARY:ACE Interface: Understanding Adverse Childhood Experiences - Building Self Healing Communities
DESCRIPTION:Topic: “ACE Interface: Understanding Adverse Childhood Experiences – Building Self-Healing Communities”\nDate:   April 20\, 2022\nTime:  6pm-8pm (Eastern Time)\nPresenters:  Jeff Wittman\, MBA\, PCAIN Prevention Program Manager and Sandy Runkle-DeLorme\, MSW\, PCAIN Director of Programs \nDescription:  The ACE Study confirms\, with scientific evidence that adversity during development increases the risk of physical\, mental and behavioral problems later in life. The ACE Study and other research using the study’s framework have taught us that ACEs are the leading cause of health and social problems in our nation and the most powerful determinant of the public’s health.  Building Self-Healing Communities is about investing in the people who have the most at stake—especially people affected by ACEs– so they can be expert leaders of their own community’s change. We live at a time of great hope and promise – the greatest public health discovery of our time is about us. The ACE Study provides a discovery – a common framework and language – that we can use to profoundly improve the health and well-being of our society now and for future generations to come. \nCo-Presenter Bio: Jeff Wittman joined PCAIN on March 1\, 2021\, as our new Prevention Program Manager. Jeff comes to PCAIN with a wealth of experience working with youth and with communities. Most recently Jeff was the School Social Work & Foster Youth Specialist at the Department of Education\, but he has also worked in Family Preservation\, Wraparound Community Support Services\, and in Foster Care. Jeff has a bachelor’s degree in Psychology\, and a Master of Business Administration in Educational Leadership. \nCo-Presenter Bio: Sandy is currently the Director of Programs at PCAIN\, a Division of The Villages\, and has been since 2000.  She has both teaching and training experience\, as well as experience working with youth and working in the Child Welfare System.  She received her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Northern Arizona University\, and her master’s degree in Social Work from Marywood University.  She has provided over 1\,000 trainings in topics related to child abuse prevention and currently serves on the Children’s Policy and Law Initiative Board of Directors\, the Children’s Justice Act Task Force\, and the State Child Fatality Review Team. \nAudience: Early Intervention Professionals\, Early Childhood Education Professionals\, Health Care Professionals\, Law Enforcement\, Teachers\, Parents\, and Social Service Staff (must be age 18 or older) \n Training Time: 2 Hours \nWARNING:  If you are attending this virtual training at home\, please be sure to either use headphones or be alone while attending. Some information may not be suitable for younger children. \nA Survey will be emailed to you after the webinar. Once you complete your Survey our office will email you the Training Certificate within 12-24 business hours. \nJust a reminder that if you register as a couple or a group\, each person will need to complete an Assessment/Survey to qualify for a Training Certificate. \n  \nRegistration Link: https://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZIkd-mtpzoiHtQdatNanqIT5G97Zd-kQhAP
