SAFE in Adams County works to prevent child abuse through education and events to educate and support children and families. We also team with other nonprofits regarding prevention and support. Our main event is sponsoring Body Safety each April with Terry Hall. The week prior to this program, we host a free family carnival and join with our local DCS office to hold a celebration of children and families at the courthouse and plant a pinwheel garden there. We offer resources to area churches and supply a prayer for April Faith Initiative Sunday. Throughout the year, we send encouragement cards to county students and “mug” area volunteers and professionals who work tirelessly for our children and youth. These are mugs filled with candy, movie tickets and restaurant gift cards, pinwheels and appreciation cards. We hand out pinwheels for the Decatur Safety Park Trick or Trick each October. In 2019, we are looking forward to providing training for infant safe sleep with two other nonprofits as well as continuing Darkness to Light.

SAFE in Adams County has been a PCAIN Chartered Council since 2014.

Monthly Meetings are held the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. at the West End Restaurant in Decatur.
