Monique Burr Foundation Child Safety Matters®
Time: 25-35 Minute Sessions

This interactive, prevention-focused Child Safety Matters® training is designed for educators, youth-serving professionals, caregivers, and community members who support children in grades K–8. The session provides practical, age-appropriate strategies to help adults recognize, prevent, and respond to child safety concerns while empowering children with skills to stay safe.

Through scenario-based discussions, interactive activities, guided reflection, and age-appropriate resources, participants explore essential child safety concepts, including:

  • Recognizing different types of child victimization, including bullying, cyberbullying, child abuse, exploitation, and digital dangers
  • Understanding common safety risks children face and how adults can create protective environments
  • Teaching children skills related to boundaries, trusted adults, decision-making, and seeking help
  • Supporting healthy communication between children and trusted adults
  • Identifying warning signs and knowing how to respond when safety concerns arise
  • Strengthening prevention strategies in schools, homes, and communities

This training emphasizes empowerment, prevention, and building protective factors rather than fear-based messaging. Participants will leave with practical tools, conversation strategies, and resources to help create safer environments and support children in developing the skills needed to recognize unsafe situations and seek help.
