NetSmartz Internet Safety: Community
This training is provided through partnership with The National Center for Missing and Exploited children. This interactive virtual or in-person training focuses on educating adults on the potential risks of internet use for children. Through guided conversation, videos, and activities, the training educates participants on social media and internet use for youth, the potential risks that youth face when accessing the internet, and ways for adults to have conversations with youth about being safe.
Internet safety is a prevention focused training, and provides participants the tools to have informed conversations with youth about using the internet and ways to protect themselves, including who to trust, what personal information to share, how to identify safe sites to use, and what to do if something harmful occurs. The training also equips participants on how to handle disclosures from youth of unsafe internet use, and next steps to addressing harm that has occurred.
This training is ideal for:
- Early intervention professionals
- Early childhood education professionals
- Health care professionals
- Teachers
- Parents
- Social services staff
