CA 101 is a part of a two-session series focused on the identification and prevention of child abuse. It serves as an introductory session to educate audiences on the definitions and four primary types of maltreatment, as well as the signs and indicators of each type of maltreatment displayed by children and abusers.
With a primary focus in prevention, the session will overview reporting responsibilities, responding appropriately to youth disclosures of abuse, and ideas for preventing child abuse in local communities.
Through interactive questions/polls and guided discussion, the audience will explore these topics. After completing CA 101, audiences will be encouraged to register for Child Abuse 102: Impact of Violence on Children, an optional intermediate course focused on the long-term impact that maltreatment and abuse have on children.
