Safe Sleep

FreeSafe Sleep
Time: 1 Hour 30 Minutes
This interactive, prevention-focused Safe Sleep training is designed for healthcare providers, early childhood professionals, educators, childcare providers, caregivers, and community members who want to help reduce the risk of sleep-related infant deaths. The session explores current safe sleep recommendations while providing practical, evidence-informed strategies to create safer sleep environments and confidently educate families.
Through scenario-based discussions, live polling, interactive activities, and guided reflection, participants explore essential safe sleep concepts, including:
- Understanding the scope of sleep-related infant deaths and Sudden Unexpected Infant Death (SUID)
- Recognizing risk factors that increase the likelihood of sleep-related infant deaths
- Learning the American Academy of Pediatrics’ safe sleep recommendations and best practices
- Identifying safe sleep environments and common hazards that place infants at risk
- Addressing common myths and misconceptions about infant sleep
- Practicing effective, nonjudgmental conversations with families and caregivers about safe sleep
- Connecting families with trusted community resources and evidence-based safe sleep information
This training emphasizes prevention, education, and shared responsibility while empowering participants to become confident advocates for infant safety. Participants will leave with practical tools, communication strategies, and resources they can immediately apply in healthcare, childcare, educational, and caregiving settings to promote safe sleep practices and help reduce preventable infant deaths.
